Michael & Company are listed in the July 1886 R.G.Dun. But not in the January, 1886 or any of the 1887's so it must have been a short lived venture.

Abilene, Texas was named after Abilene, Kansas.

In looking for the root word of Abilene, I find in Luke 3:1 that Abilene was a small kingdom on the E. slope of the Lebanon mountains, NE. of Damascus. And that Lysa' nias was the Tetrarch around 14 - 37. In a further search & study of the bible I find the original meaning of the word Abilene. Abilene = "grassy meadow" a region of Syria between Lebanon and Hermon towards Phoenicia, 18 miles (29 km) from Damascus and 37 miles (60 km) from Heliopolis
