Émile Remond immigrated from France to the La Runion utopian style settlement west of Dallas.
After the settlements failure he discovered that a limestone formation in the area was good for cement production.
He started a cement plant that was later bought by the Portland Cement Company at the turn of the century. A city grew up on
the operations that included a store, post office,school and other facilities.
The plant operations expanded and eliminated the city in the 1970's
