Eldorado, the county seat, is located near the center of Schleicher county. Named in 1895, the first settlers were given free lots as an inducement to settle there. Eldorado has long been the headquarters for ranchers, and the site of the West Texas Woolen Mills. Tokens from this West Texas town are both sarce and desirable.
